how to make t-shirt yarn

once again, my family will be celebrating a handmade christmas this year. i plan to do many things with t-shirt yarn.

you could make all sorts of things with t-shirt yarn! maybe make a scarf, or knit a blanket, or oh, i don't know, maybe a crazy awesome t-shirt yarn necklace? it's up to you of course.

Step 5, the crucial key to a continous strip! I have tried to understand instructions for making bias tape, I couldn't picture or understand the diagonal cut until seeing your photo.
Thanks a million!

Very cool idea! Now you could make a rug or something useful out of it!

Hi Bailey, what a neat idea. I would never have thought of doing that with my old t-shirts. I shall remember that for the future as we now have some really gorgeous colours, instead of the old boring white. I have recently found your blog and will follow more often. Please pop on over and visit mine and perhaps you would like to follow me also. I would like that. Hugs, Chris

I'm working on an oval area rug made with alternating white & green tees. Now I really do have the itch to dig it out & work on it some more!! (It's crocheted, by the way, just a very basic stitch with a huge hook.)

So easy. Thank you. Now I know what to do with hubby's old t shirts other than using them for cleaning.

Thanks for posting a very handy tutorial. I always wondered how this was done. I found you through Pinterest.

What about using the graphic too, would that work? I imagine it might require removing the sleeves and then sewing up the seam. What are your thoughts?

I found this on Reddit just as I was starting to make rugs of old t-shirt strips. Now I can have longer t-shirt strips with much less effort than what I was planning...

Luckily, I'd only cut off sleeves at that point. Crocheted t-shirt rugs, here I come!
